Hotel Transylvania seeks to transfer the success of the movie into a fast-tapping game for iOS. It is fun and addictive, and may lure players into opting for some of the upgrades interspersed throughout the action.
You are Dracula, operating your cozy castle as an inn for creatures. By running an efficient operation you are rewarded with tips and happy customers. Do this by directing Dracula around the castle with gestures in order to deliver room service, take tips, and clean laundry.
While the game will appeal to the younger set, some of the directions could be confusing for small children. For example, you must drag the customers to an open room, while you tap once on luggage and its target room. There is a good tutorial, but some smaller children would benefit by having an adult there to guide them in how to play.
A universal app, it plays much better on the iPad, as the menus and icons shrink quite significantly when going down to the iPhone. This is especially true if you are using a 4S or lower, as the doors and suitcases get quite small.
But it is one of those great, fast-paced games that has you quickly touching all over the screen in order to play effectively. I liked it, and do recommend it as a great game for the Halloween season.
