Play the simulating game of Speed Racer: The Beginning. The game is based on the anime series Speed Racer and consists of 10 levels of racing in the mountains, streets, deserts, and jumping from road to road, whether rain or shine.
Speed Racer has two rounds for each level. During each round you have three opportunities to pass on to the next. Throughout the race you will collect as many coins as possible to get the most points. Power-Ups will be scattered to help your performance. The Water Shield activates in extreme weather conditions, Speed Boosts are used to maximize speeds when encountered in a huge gap, All Terrain’s help you maintain speed on ice, and Saw Blades saw through rolling logs. Other racing cars are occasionally on the road as well and have to be avoided by jumping over them. The cars stop suddenly or try to push you, which eventually make the car explode.
The challenging part about this game is that the car can only jump twice at a time. I had not realized this when I started playing the game. When I came across a huge gap I had to cross, I attempted jumping three times but my car failed after the second jump and fell straight down. After I figured the two jump rule I was more careful and more thoughtful about where precisely I wanted to make my jumps.
Deadly obstacles can be found on the way such as oil slicks, rough terrain, falling rocks and weather. It can make the race more complicated, especially with the snow and winds. They slow down the speeding and can cause your car to not jump the sufficient to make it across the huge gaps. In addition, objects such as rocks and logs make you want to be much more alert when you advance on each level. It is important to be aware of everything because things may surprise you while on the road.
Speed Racer is also Open Feint available. This can be activated before playing the game to earn achievements, post your high scores, and compete with other friends.
The game is available for purchase at the App Store for $0.99 and will arrive on the iPad in coming weeks.
