The new iPad app from decide.com hits the App Store today. The growing service, which is also available for the iPhone and Android, helps users determine if the timing is right for a major purchase.

According to Shauna Causey, the vice president of marketing for decide.com, the iPad app grew out of a realization that 40 percent of the web traffic to decide.com was coming from the iPad.
The decide.com app seeks to recharge browsing through the content on the iPad. The key functionality of the main site is still there, as users are given recommendations on whether to buy an item or hold back based on data-driven predictions. Visitors can also track items that they are watching in order to hear back when the price is best.
The information is not relegated to only price. The decide.com app engine also will update users about whether or not a newer model is forthcoming. While the site had been mostly focused on gadgets, it continues to branch out to other product lines.
Other features, listed in a company release, are detailed below:
“Buy” or “Wait” recommendations with more categories on the way, based on whether Decide predicts the price will go up, down or a new model is on the way.
- Access to the most ambitious price guarantee program with Decide’s new, daily Got Your Back deals. If you buy one of these deals and the price drops within two weeks, Decide will pay you the amount of the price drop.
Easy comparison of prices online and in nearby stores, based on auto-detected location, and ability to browse product reviews.
- Ability to set product tracking alerts that instantly sync across Decide.com and the Decide.com Shopping for Electronics & Appliances App for iPhone and iPod touch, so users instantly know about important price drops.
- High fidelity shopping with the swipe of a finger and optimized for the Retina display on the new iPad.
