Apple Updates iTunes to 10.2.2

Apple pushed out a minor update to iTunes on Monday to fix a number of bugs. Some users reportied that iTunes stopped working when syncing an iPad or that photo syncing took hours.

This is the second update to iTunes since 10.2 was rolled out, which provided users of all iOS devices the 4.3 update.

• Addresses an issue where iTunes may become unresponsive when syncing an iPad.

New York Times Launches Digital Subscription Plan

The New York Times pay wall is up.

The elaborate plan allows up to 20 free article views per month on the web site, mobile or tablet apps. Articles from the Top News section or those accessed through social media do not count toward one’s limit.

There are three subscription packages available. One is geared for smartphone apps, another for tablets and a third is a full-access plan for those who subscribe to the newspaper.

The Times announced about one year ago that it would be creating a pay wall, but wanted time to determine the best plan. Earlier this month it detailed the plan, which has drawn mixed reviews from across the web. [Read more...]

Apple’s WWDC to Focus on iOS, Mac OS

Apple’s annual Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) is on for June 6 – 10 at the Moscone Center in San Francisco.

The event, which costs developers $1,599 to attend, focuses on how developers can make their apps perform with Mac OS and iOS.

“At this year’s conference we are going to unveil the future of iOS and Mac OS,” said Philip Schiller, Apple’s senior vice president of Worldwide Product Marketing in a statement. “If you are an iOS or Mac OS X software developer, this is the event that you do not want to miss.” [Read more...]

Sparrow for Mac adds MobileMe, Yahoo, others

Sparrow for Mac is expanding beyond Gmail. The popular Mac email client pushed out an update today that makes Sparrow work with MobileMe, Yahoo, AOL, or any IMAP e-mail client. The update also includes support for the Mac’s multitouch gestures.

The additional email services may appeal to those who like the Gmail-like interface of Sparrow yet want to keep their current email address. The update is to push out to the Mac App Store today. You can download Sparrow for Mac here.

Boost Your Mac’s Volume with Boom

Those who want to crank the music on their Mac should check out Boom.

Boom is a volume enhancer, which boosts the sound volume on a Mac by up to 400 percent. The app places a volume slider on the menu bar as well as more detailed controls for manipulating sounds.

The equalizer is used for tweaking the sound to better match specific content, such as movies, music that should emphasize bass or vocals.
