Baseball Superstars 2011 for Android Review

Baseball Superstars 2011 is an RPG-style game where the user can become the superstar player they’ve always wanted to be.

The highly addictive iPhone game is now available for the Android platform and many new features have been incorporated to make it more interesting and fun for new gamers.Though the iPhone’s version of Baseball Superstars has better graphics, Android’s version has many new features and customizations. The stadium and turf can now be changed to generate more money for the team the user is managing in season mode in addition to customizing scenarios and specific players to control.

If team management is your thing, season mode gives you full ability to control and run the team, from hiring coaches to boost the team’s ability to drafting rookies. Android’s version has all the same options as the iPhone’s such as: picking super players for pitching, customizing the number of innings to be manually played and controlling every aspect of the team plays.

My league is a great “road to riches” mode within the game. A player is created with the attributes the user decides and goes to one of the ten teams in the league. The rookie has a set of goals for each season and must build his fame and popularity throughout his career to become the best player in the MLB. After every few games the user can improve his players’ attributes by practicing or even going out on the town to gain more popularity points or meet new people. After each season the player’s statistics are evaluated and he is rewarded based on his playing with bonuses and raises. My league mode is very addictive as I must continue to build the player to stardom. When you win MVP at the end of the season, all the hard work you have put in is definitely a plus.

Fielding can be a little challenging as the controls are a little too close to each other and pushing the wrong arrow can result in throwing to a different base; otherwise everything else is automatically done. Pitching on the other hand is more fluid; the user chooses where the pitch will be thrown at and what type. As a pitcher, each has a specialty and can be used on each batter for an exciting pitch. Batting is extremely fun, especially if the player has a power attribute to help knock balls out of the park. The player must guess where the pitch is going to be as you would in real life but a small gift can be purchased called “Eagle eye” which shows where the pitch will be thrown at for 20 matches, making it easier for those power and contact hitters.

Baseball Superstars has definitely not been short handed from the iPhone version and is still entertaining in every which way. The story modes are the same as would be seen on a console MLB game and just as much fun. One huge advantage for the Android version is not having to be on a team named the Seamews.
