Baseball Superstars 2012 is now available on iPhone with a new look and more excitement. It’s a fun game that many fans have anticipated and couldn’t wait for with new materials and in-game experiences.
The HD quality of the game is very impressive, especially on the retina display of the iPhone 4S and 4. The game boasts a new design of fields, players and game play.
The controls are still the same but new smart controls have been added for a better experience. The user can now touch the screen for motion pitching and tilt the phone for target hitting.
Player modes now have added material such as customization of team logos, stadium, uniforms and equipment in the management mode. In My Batter and My Pitcher the user can earn special moves and super players can join the user’s team.
Baseball Superstars is a loved franchise and fun but it seems too much was done for the 2012 version. Many of the characters were revamped, which is normal in a new version, but the game has a more anime feel than last year’s version and is a little strange.
Many fans of the game may not care for this version due to the level of difficulty. It is extremely hard to get used to the pitches or swinging at the right time. Every time it seems the pitch is perfect enough to hit, it was way too early or too late of a swing. This becomes very frustrating as the user cannot find a rhythm and if you are able to hit the ball it’s a constant pop fly which results in an out every single time.
Another problem is money. In last year’s game, the salary was very reasonable and allowed the user to buy plenty of new equipment for their player each year and now it is almost impossible to buy one new piece of equipment with the low salary. I am into my third year on My Batter and I have only bought one item for my player because I don’t have enough money, although my team made it to the playoffs in the second year. It is also much harder to level up the players’ attributes because of a conditioning meter that monitors the player’s happiness. If the meter is below 50, the player has a hard time performing well in games and practice and it drops tremendously while training and playing games. The only way to raise the level is to rest at the hospital which costs 100 dollars from your very small salary or play very well in games which nearly won’t happen in your first 3 years.
The difficulty setting is on normal, going to easy just to get hits seems unfair but it’s also unfair when a user can’t even hit a ball on a normal difficulty setting. Baseball Superstars 2012 is fun but not so much when you’re too frustrated. Users will most likely be deterred from continuing game play if they cannot reach a mutual level of achievement. Overall, it’s fun until you keep losing for no reason.
