Not content with simply conquering space, the Angry Birds are now heading to a galaxy far, far away. Angry Birds Star Wars is coming November 8 to mobile phones, tablets, and the desktop.
If you can’t wait, the official Angry Birds site has plenty of content, including a poll to choose the rebellion or empire. The characters are decked out in Star Wars gear, reminiscent of many of the movies’ most iconic characters.
“Both Star Wars and Angry Birds share the instant and irresistible appeal of hands-on fun,” said Colum Slevin, Vice President, Head of Studio Operations for Lucasfilm Ltd in a statement. “People seem to instinctively know what to do when handed a lightsaber or a bird in a slingshot, so this is a natural combination.”
The latest installation from Rovio is Bad Piggies, a free game which spins off of the evil pigs that play prominently in the other Angry Birds games.
Rovio said the game will be available on iOS, Android, Amazon Kindle Fire, Mac, PC, Windows Phone and Windows 8. A video teaser (displayed below) does not provide any hints as to what the gameplay looks like, but does make clever use of the sounds and sights familiar to many who are fans of the Star Wars series.
