Air Penguin is the perfect kind of game for the iPhone. Users certainly agree, as GAMEVIL just announced $1 million in revenue even though the game has only been in the App Store for about one month.
With Air Penguin the player must tip their iPhone around to help a penguin leap, fly or skate through dangerous, melting ice. The controls are very responsive, which helps make the gameplay extremely addictive.
There are two game modes: a survival option, where the player must keep the penguin alive as long as possible through the obstacle course. At first it is fairly easy, tilting the iPhone to leap from one island of ice to another. However, the islands begin to get smaller. Then there is more demanding tasks like riding a turtle, avoiding sharks, or skating along an ice block while not falling through the cracks.
Playing through the storyline will provide the most playtime, beginning with some easy levels but then advancing to ones that will have users rapidly tilting around their phones to avoid the icy deep. Collecting fish is an important task, as they bring several tricks and upgrade abilities. For the impatient, large batches of fish can be purchased from within Air Penguin.
This is the ideal $0.99 game, which can be played in short bursts while waiting at the doctor’s office or for an hour when trying to conquer the remaining levels.
